Helping the Needy

Winter Coat Drive

Each winter our community organizes a winter coat drive to donate to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. If you are interested in donating or helping to organize the drive, please email Rabbi Schultz.

Operation Hope

Based in Fairfield, Operation Hope works to support those who are homeless and living in poverty. They run a shelter, food pantry, a community kitchen and an affordable housing initiative. They often seek volunteers for a variety of projects. To learn about all of the volunteering opportunities at Operation Hope, visit their website here. If you are interested in volunteering at Operation Hope, please visit their volunteer registration page to register.

Community Closet

The Community Closet, a program of LifeBridge Community Services, helps the disadvantaged of Greater Bridgeport secure clothing, diapers, school supplies and small household essentials. The Community Closet is dependent upon donations from individuals and organizations in the community. These donations are sorted and displayed and given away completely free to needy clients referred by area human service agencies and programs.

To arrange to make a donation, please call Karen Seferi, director of the Community Closet, at (203) 368-5624.

Habitat for Humanity

B’nai Israel periodically organizes Habitat for Humanity building projects in the Greater Bridgeport area. If you are interested in helping to organize our next building project, please contact Rabbi Evan Schultz.
