October 27, 2019 - 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
Please join us for an exciting new Mitzvah Morning event on Sunday, October 27th from 9:30-12:00 when we will have an opportunity to learn more about an organization called Our Woven Community (OWC).
OWC is a program that provides local resettled refugee women in Bridgeport the opportunity to become self-sufficient leaders and become empowered with entrepreneurial skills and economic opportunity. Participants of the program learn to use sewing machines to create beautiful handbags, scarves and other items. They use local donated materials combined with fabrics from African countries to symbolize weaving of cultures. Our morning will involve learning about the program from Cynthia Davis, the founder of OWC as well as from some of the women about their refugee experiences. We will also have the opportunity to purchase these handcrafted items in order to show support. 100% of the proceeds benefit the artists and support program expenses. Please join us for what will be a very memorable morning.Map Unavailable
