Sukkot – Celebrating Shelter

For this year’s family Sukkot program, we are putting the theme of shelter and home into social action by partnering with Operation Hope to help families transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing.

Throughout the month leading up to Sukkot we will be collecting new items that are needed in a new home, such as dish towels, kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies, etc. Donations can be left in the coat closet in the box labeled “Sukkot Project/Operation Hope”. We have created a Sign Up Genius where you can see what is needed and sign up for what you’d like to contribute – https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084AAAAD22ABFE3-sukkot

Congregants of all ages are invited to join us as we decorate B’nai Israel’s sukkah and assemble the gift baskets of household items to be donated. Families can also design and sign “Welcome Home” cards to be included.

We will also share a potluck dinner and enjoy a short family service. For the dinner, a main dish will be provided, but we ask that families with last names A-M bring an appetizer or side dish, and families with last names N-Z bring a dessert. RSVPs are requested, but not required, for food planning purposes and can be directed to annieringelheim@gmail.com, along with any questions you may have about the project.
