CONECT Film: Stranger Fruit

November 17, 2019 - 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Stranger Fruit, a film by Jason Pollock

This event is a continuation of B’nai Israel’s participation in CONECT’s “Two
Books, Two Movies: Discussions on Racism in America,” in which B’nai
Israel, along with several other faith groups, conducted congregation-based
discussions on American racism through the lens of current media. B’nai
Israel engaged in this work in order to reach a deeper, more personal
understanding of the ways in which systemic racism impacts our
community and how that speaks to our obligations as Jews to repair the
world (tikkun olam). We will be joined for this discussion by Dan
Edinberg, son of B’nai Israel members Mark and Barbara Edinberg, who
composed the music for this documentary. To learn more about CONECT,
see For questions or to RSVP, contact Jeff Schwartz or Emily Lehrman. Stranger Fruit is appropriate for high school students and adults. It is rated TV-14.
