April 12, 2019 - 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Mark your calendars for a weekend with our former assistant rabbis Fred Greene and Rachel Gurevitz, who will return to B’nai Israel as part of the activities in honor of Rabbi Prosnit’s retirement. They will be sharing their musical talents and giving the sermons at Friday and Saturday services the weekend of April 12 and participating in Torah Study on Saturday morning. Friday evening Shabbat services will be followed by a dinner and then an informal conversation about the shape of their rabbinates since leaving B’nai Israel. They’ll discuss what their communities are like, how they’ve evolved since leaving B’nai Israel, challenges, surprises, blessings and burdens they’ve faced as senior rabbis.
On Saturday afternoon there will be a program titled “Judaism as a Spiritual Tool Box”. Rabbis Gurevitz and Greene will combine some contemplative worship with thoughts about how their new congregations have responded to the high tech crowd in Boston and the Jew Buddhists in Boulder. They’ll also talk about new ways to try and address the interests and needs of people trying to connect with the Judaism they may have distanced themselves from earlier in life.
